It was impossible to maintain this project.

The winter to follow, GDU / HM was formed.

The band is called The Whitest Boy Alive! and they will make you dance.

Get happy and call your best friends and tell them to come listen with you.

It started as an electronic dance music project in 2003 in Berlin, but have since slowly developed into a band with no programmed elements.

Yacine played their song "Gravity" one night and right off the bat I was grooving.

The chorus to that song is "Freedom is a possibility only if your able to say NO".

At the time that's exactly what I needed to hear with a funky bass line.

They have released two studio albums, "Dreams" & "Rules" which are equally amazing.

Erlend is also part of another project called Kings of Convenience.

I was recently introduced to Tristeza by my good friend Aaron, when I was in Savannah this summer (2011)

I had a list of bands I was told to check out. So, after I got back to Los Angeles I took a trip to Ameoba to see what I could find.

Sure enough their was the 12'' Dream Signals In Full Circles, on the employes monthly picks. Tristeza means "Sadness" in both Portuguese and Spanish. The band was formed in 1997 in San Diego, California but currently reside in Oakland, California.

Instrumental music will never bore me so, don't think it will bore you. I suggest Tristeza for all of those going to sleep.

So, here's what I've been wanting to share with you!

These boys are making some damn good music.

I met Reptar in 2009 at a house show in Asheville, North Carolina.

Our mutual friend Will Isenogle had booked both of our bands to play.

Since then I have seen them numerous times in Savannah, Georgia.

My comparison might not be spot on for some people but i think if your into Modest Mouse, Talking Heads, Animal Collective then most likely a would dig Reptar.

They have just released their first EP Oblangle Fizz Y'all on Vagrant Records.

Producer Ben Allen recorded their first 7' which is available on Make Records Not Bombs. Ben Allen has produced music for artists such as Sean P. Diddy Combs, Gnarls Barkley, Animal Collective, and Matt & Kim. You can find a bunch of their stuff online.

Originally a two piece progressive/punk band.

GDU/HM has not properly released anything, due to the distance between the members.

I must say, Fleet Foxes music is enchanted. I've listened to the entire album numerous times now and like their first full length every song will get stuck in your head. Phil Ek helped produce this album which really interested me. He has also produced must of my favorite bands such as Built To Spill, The Shins, Modest Mouse, Big Business, etc.

I highly recommend owning Helplessness Blues.

The Suburbs, is epic. It is the best arcade fire album in my opinion.

Lyrically and musically, they have defined the suburban ethos of my generation.

I highly suggest buying the album or downloading it from somewhere.

Make Believe is amazing, thats the bottom line. I recently saw Cap'n Jazz at the echoplex here in Los Angeles and it jumpstarted my love for Chicago based bands.

I've gotten into all of Kinsella's projects, basically anything they touch turns gold.

Make Believe has been a very special band for me ever since I found it on Ashley's itunes. Their sound is math rock, experimental, with that chicago emo twist that Tim brings.

They have released three albums, a 7'' vinyl and my most favorite, the Make Believe EP.

My friend David handed me this sick 12'' vinyl after I mentioned something about my interest in indigenous cultures. The record had great artwork and the lyrics were powerful and emotion. "The capture of the shipwreck by the floridian indians", I can't really remember but I think that was the album title. Anyways, He introduced me to Merel. I had never heard of them before, and I was very surprised. Merel is a hardcore screamo punk band from New Jersey formed in the early '90s. They were loud and abrasive, but who from New Jersey isn't? The members of Merel went on to form the Rye Coalition. Below I have their 15-tracks discography released by Gern Blandsten Records.

Enemies are fresh, joyous post-rock music with an appetite. They formed in April of 2007 and have so far released a 7" vinyl double A- side on the european label Richter Collective.

July 11, 2010, Enemies released a full length album titled "We've Been Talking" on Richter Collective and the Japanese label Machu Picchu Industrias runned by members of toe. The have toured Ireland, the UK and Japan a couple of times, but never toured the states. I had found Enemies through toe about a year ago. I really like their double A-side, but after I heard their full length I was in deep. The first track, "Backaches & Cardigans" blew me away. It's catchy as fuck and I know I'm not the only one that thinks that.

El Ten Eleven makes music perfect for long open road drives. It was the only band I played while driving countless miles up and down the east coast. With the windows rolled up, driving below the millions of stars, in the company of friends. It was our two week long soundtrack.

I read a blog article on El Ten Eleven when they're second album "Every Direction Is North" was being released in 2007. Right away from the pictures, I knew that it was going to be something amazing. The article had compared their sound to bands like Tortoise, Ratatat and Sigur Ros, which I love. I quickly downloaded their first self titled album "El Ten Eleven" and "Every Direction Is North". On their self titled album, "My Only Swerving" was the first track, 5 minutes and 15 seconds long, the wrist taker. From that song on, I was hooked like a fang so, they say.

The name El Ten Eleven is derived from a passenger jet airliner, Lockheed L-1011 TriStar. They have released a third album titled "These Promises Are Being Videotaped" in 2008 which is more dance influenced. They also just finished recording their fourth album titled "It's Still Like A Secret", due to be released sometime this year (2010). They are not signed to any big label, I don't fucking know why, they're on tour constantly. If you click here on the tour dates, you might be able to see them very soon!

I recently found out about this band and I can't stop listening to it. It's filthy good like sex in a bowl of spicy pad thai. I watched just about all their youtube videos and I can't wait for people to upload more. Adebisi Shank has only released a EP titled "The Ep of a Band Called Adebisi Shank" and a full length titled "This Is A Album of a Band Called Adebisi Shank" released on Richter Collective!

Don't worry, I have pieced it all together. The name Adebisi Shank came from the HBO dramatic series OZ, set in an experimental prison unit. Simon Adebisi was one of the main character that was killed in a prison fight by his own shank. So to sum it all up, the guitarist masturbates viciously on stage, The bass player is into Sadomasochism and the drummer is a freaky red head that won't take no for answer. Together they are one fucking awesome nut busting threesome!

While searching for Toe videos on youtube, I found Mouse On The Keys. The three videos I have posted below will blow your fucking mind! They have released a mini album titled "Sezessions" and a full-length titled "An Anxious Object". Both are masterpieces if you ask me. Mouse On The Keys take Experimental/Jazz/Math-Rock to the final level and their imagery to the higher level. Machu Picchu Industrias is their Japanase Label and Denovali Records distributes them worldwide. I highly recommend this band to anyone who appreciates complex instrumental chaos! watch and see.

My family and I moved from Elizabeth, New Jersey to Mt. Pocono, Pennsylvania in 2000. I attended Pocono Mountain East Campus from the 8th grade to about the middle of 10th grade. During my first year there I made friends with the few punk kids on campus Jesse Gordon, Ron Gordon, Jon Bailey and Billy Mac. We would go to see local shows at the Tannersville Fire Hall. This guy Terry had just relocated his show space The Underworld from main street Stroudsburg to Tannersville, making it a shorter drive for kids from Mt. Pocono, Long Pond, Pocono Country Place, Canadensis and Reeders. The Underworld was our weekend hang out spot and for the most part the shows were pretty good. When The Underworld relocated again to Tobyhanna, PA is when I met William Francis Orender a.k.a Billy the Squid, a superb drummer who quickly became my good friend.

We were both in a punk band and when Terry, the owner of The Underworld, would book punk shows he would always ask both of our bands to play. Billy was playing drums for, The Lost Cause, and I played guitar and was the vocalist for The Iron Youth. We went on to form a punk/ska band called Fall-Up, who at the time was heavily inspired by Choking Victim, Morning Glory, Blimp attack and No Cash.

After leaving the Poconos far behind in 2004, I've found it to be a place that has grown on me. It's a place of lost dreams and a lot of angst. And if you are conscious enough to see through the pretentiousness amongst your group of friends, you will grow friendships that are unbreakable.

I wasn't there when Jerk Reaction started but I continued my friendships with the people involved. Brian Gilson, my partner in crime, always kept me up to date on the Poconos news. I admired what Jerk Reaction was doing and how they didn't settle for just playing Pennsylvania shows.

I would listen to the songs they had on their Myspace numerous times daily, until I messaged them to ask if SawJaw could distribute their demo cd. I had heard the demo a few days after it was recorded outside a WAWA, while our car was being fixed while on tour. Armed Metropolis, Slug's Revenge, Whiskey Smile!, Jerk Reaction and The Holy Mess had played a great show at East Stroudsburg University the night before. Jerk Reaction were all down with that idea of allowing me to release their new self titled EP. Making the Jerk Reaction EP the third official release on SawJaw Records. Sean, Jerk Reactions vocalist, is an amazing artist and made the illustration on the EP. I took it home to Savannah, and with their permission I cut, glued, typed and printed, the final front and back cover.

Jerk Reaction broke up in 2008, but have started other projects. Blood Oranges has Dave, Ricky, Billy and Sean. Dave also plays guitar and vocals in The Greek Favourites. Bryce now plays bass for At Our Age. Music only evolves!

It was Christmas of 2006, and I was living in Charlotte, North Carolina with my girlfriend Ashley. We were living at her mothers house and both of us were working at this pottery painting store. I know, what the fuck is that? We were more like babysitters. Parents would drop off their kids and we would teach them to paint for a few hours. Anyways, I would use the stores computer to check my myspace and listen to music. I had gotten a friend request from this band The Difference Engine.

Two of the members were my very good friends Sean Engine and Jacob Engine from Mobile, Alabama. I had just been their a few months earlier, while on tour, so I was really excited to listen to their band. The first song, "They Unfroze Me In The Future Man!", ran shivers through my body. It made me shake my ass, and spazz the fuck out! I couldn't believe that these were the kids I knew. I quickly got on the phone and called Sean Engine to tell him that I was in love with The Difference Engine. I hadn't even listened to the rest of the songs they had on their myspace. I told him when I was going back to Savannah, Georgia and that they should play at my house, The Pink Palace. They were more than happy to add another tour date to their schedule, and were stoked about coming to Savannah to play.

The show finally happened and I was mesmerized by their performance. I spoke to Sean and Jacob about my plans of starting SawJaw Records and it's purpose. They were familiar with what I had been doing and were excited to be a part of it. The Difference Engine went on, touring extensively throughout the US. Due to each of the members living all over the northwestern hemisphere there were often breaks for their band. After four years steaming and other projects cooking, The Difference Engine over heated. "Death to The Engine, Long Live The Difference" was what the answering machine said.

A few months after the break up, The Difference Engine left me with "History of Horrendipity". Their last testament and SawJaw Records second official release (SJR-002). Eight newly recorded and mastered tracks, in other words this is the essentials. If you don't like this, then you shouldn't be living. I'm kidding, I really hope you like it, because for years all I wanted to do was to be in this band!

For me (Diego) it all started @ Lunchbox Records located in Downtown Charlotte. A local show with local bands played that night. I remember Mikey's Band played A-Priori and after Dailey came out with an acoustic guitar. He said "I'm gonna play a few songs for you, I hope you don't mind" then said something like "Last time I played was at this bowling alley, they kicked me off before i had finished my set". I'm trying to think back on that night, I might not be completely right about what he said. Anyways, He began playing his songs and immediately I was blown away by the music and the words and by specially by his performance. So, after Dailey's set I went up to him and thanked him for playing and told him how much I loved his songs. He was happy to hear that I think. We spoke for a little about possibly playing shows together in the near future and we exchanged contacts.

Kevin Slug's Revenge, and I Armed Metropolis had booked our second tour. It kicked off in Charlotte, NC at this house called The Tank. It was us two, Tea and Rice which featured Dailey, Mikey, Vinny and Danny and James K. Polk & The Family of Friends. It was a great show with an awesome turn out. After the show Dailey Came up to me and gave me his first Demo with three songs he had recorded in his room. I listened to the cd over and over until I could sing along to all the words. I messaged Dailey soon after our show together and asked him to join SawJaw. Dailey was very excited and thrilled that I had asked him to be part of SawJaw. He was a fan of all the artists in the Label. I told him that he should come on tour with us whenever he was available. What I have forgotten to mention is that Dailey is 15 years old at this time, I believe he was also a freshman in High School. So, touring was something he really needed to think about.

I had asked Dailey if he would consider releasing a record with a few songs on SawJaw. He said that he would love to and on March of 2007 he came to Savannah to give me FOOD PERMIT. Dailey had made the artwork and insert himself. The record has seven songs that were all written by Dailey. It's the first official SawJaw release (SJR-001). Truly one of the best record I've ever heard. I was Ecstatic! to be releasing Food Permit under SawJaw Records. Dailey went on to tour the east coast with label mates Slug's Revenge, Whiskey Smile! and Screamin' J. Coleman. Dailey also toured with The Skunk Ape Circus Tour in 2007.

James K. Polk & The Family of Friends, has a split 7" w/Wingnut Dishwasher's Union.

Released 2008 by Triumph of Life Records. It's only $4 and it's Awesome!

Dailey no longer does James K. Polk anymore, but has started other projects such as On Wonderful Jonathen and Amandafujikawa. I will post on Blog about On Wonderful Jonathen soon. Thanks

post-rock / math rock band from Japan. It's simply perfection. What they have released on record and film is incredible.

Burke (roommate) and I would literally both day dream about being in toe. We would listen to their entire record in Burke's room while working on projects. Then go downstairs to play music, letting our possessed bodies take over. In a way we would try to almost imitate their style. Trying to get our timing, riffs and changes in unison.

"The Book About My Idle Plot on a Vague Anxiety" was released in 2005. This is my favorite toe album. It is completely instrumental, whether your angry, sad, happy or bored. This album will help you get into the right mindset. They also released a dvd titled RGBDVD which basically has most of the songs in "The Book About My Idle Plot on a Vague Anxiety". After listening to their studio album and then seeing it done live. Fucking christ! Their performance was a slap in the face, of course they're that good. I'm sure that was their point.

The members of toe have started their own record label called Machu Picchu-Industrias. The bands signed are all equally amazing. Mouse On The Keys, Enemies, and toe. I will post a blog for each of these other bands very soon. I hope you will give toe a listen and check out the stuff they put out. 1. SawJaw is my independent record label.

2. SawJaw has released and distributed music by talented independent unique bands & artists.

3. SawJaw is one of the most important projects of my life.

It's all about breaking even and spreading what we've created everywhere we go.

Thats how I've felt since I gave this the name. When I first started SawJaw in Charlotte, North Carolina, the purpose was to share one name which we can all release our music under (Armed Metropolis, Slug's Revenge, and Whiskey Smile!). We toured all over the country and spread SawJaw like a wild fire. We distributed our music, zines, and home made merchandise all over. We would give out cds, stickers, patches, pins, etc. to anyone who wanted one. All we would ask from people were donations. The shows we played and the people we meet would always be very generous. They knew how far we came to play for them, and they knew how far we still had to go. We would tour for months, from the east coast to the west coast. Kevin Wykoff (Slug's Revenge) and Gabe Acita (Whiskey Smile!) did it for Consecutive years. We released everything on CD-Rs and would spray paint whatever we wanted on it. Making our releases artful, crafty and unique was our goal. We had a few tricks for printing our cd covers for free and before our tour I would buy about 400 poly sleeves for cheap from Bags Unlimited.

The stickers, shirts and patches we would screen print before and during the tours. The shirts were all bought in bulks so it was very cheap. We would post bulletins on our myspace telling kids to bring whatever shirt they wanted spray painted or screen printed to the shows. The fabrics for patches were stuff we found at our homes. Stuff like old curtains, bed sheets, and old clothes. Vinyl paper for stickers were harder to come by. All the stickers would be gone after the first couple of shows. We also would stick them everywhere along the way.

That was SawJaw from 2006 to about 2008. Then I guess it just stopped. I wanted so bad to properly release music with SawJaw. I wanted everyone on the label to have copies of their releases to sell at shows. I wanted to start distributing SawJaw records at record stores. But between work, life, needs etc. I could not afford to fullfill my wants. So, to this day I carry SawJaw wherever I go. I made a promise to myself and to others that I will anyways have their music available. So if anyone wanted to listen to what we have put out with SawJaw they could.

I have moved to Los Angeles and now this is the newest SawJaw home base. I strongly feel that this is where it will all again be possible.

Thanks to my best friend and band mate, Brian (Gilsonite) Gilson for helping me run SawJaw through the years. I love you and I could not have done it without your help and support. You are a true believer!

Thanks to Sid Goring (SawJaw/VOF Finland) for everything he's done. Sid has been there from the start and has put so much time and work into the label.

Hurtmold

"hurtmold" is Fernando Cappi, Guilherme Granado, Marcos Gerez, Mario Cappi, Mauricio Takara, Rogerio Martins. Post-rock band formed in 1998 in the city of Sao Paulo, Brasil.

It's funny how things happen... I downloaded Hurtmold's album Cozido, a few weeks before my trip to Rio de Janeiro - November 13, 2009. I listened to maybe two songs, which I liked, but for some reason I kept putting them aside. At that time I couldn't stop listening to TOE and the newest Built To Spill album. I was in Rio for a month, the whole time interacting with family and rejecting electronic vices. I was completely dedicated and in love with living a Brasilian life. On the flight back to the States all I listened to was Brasilian music from MPB (Popular Music of Brasil), to Samba and Pagode. Overwhelmed with my native sound, I figured what better time to listen to Hurtmold, then now.

When the first song started playing all I wanted to do was to play guitar and hum some words but I settled for tapping the beats on my knees to avoid any awkwardness. I was feeling this connection that i couldn't explain. I felt as if I knew who they were, as if they are family. Throughout the album I felt completely paralyzed and extremely inspired to pursue music. After all that happened on that trip I felt relieved, finally at ease.

When I finally landed in Austin, Texas all I wanted to do was to find free wifi, so I could download more Hurtmold. I had four hours to kill before my next flight to Newark, New Jersey. I couldn't believe that I had just left Brasil and had no idea that Hurtmold would be such an inspiration to me. There in that airport with slow as fuck wifi, I downloaded their album "Mestro". I didn't want to listen to it until I got on the plane where I wouldn't be bothered. I quickly boarded the plane with my snacks and headphones on to be seated next to this business man who bought me two airplane bottles of jack's whiskey. It was only a three hour flight, and after the first hour he finally stopped talking. Finally, Mestro!

What can I say? It's the music of my life. I looked out the window at the land below and thought about my future. I knew that this was what I aspire to make. Listen to "Musica politica para maradona cantar" the last song on their Mestro album and I hope you can understand. It's July 11, 2010 and I have listened to their whole discography numerous times. It's magical! Go listen to it for yourself and email me!
